Duke Energy is helping home owner save money? Why would a seller help customers to buy less?
OK, the program is indeed serious as energy companies have a vested interest in saving energy too. These savings activities will prevent to build additional power plants and supports the efforts for greener environment. So, we the home owners and Duke customers should take advantage of these sponsored programs, not only from an environmental aspect; it could save us, the Duke customers, some serious money too.
What is the Heating and Air Conditioning Health Check?
It is a comprehensive evaluation to see that our comfort systems are working at top efficiency.
The following are shortened quotes from the Duke Energy website.
“The Smart $aver Health Check goes beyond an average tune-up to ensure that your heat pump or air conditioner is not just in good working condition, but that it operates efficiently as well. The Health Check includes four simultaneous diagnostic tests that identify exactly what, if anything, ails your system. The Health Check then provides recommendations to your contractor on what their next steps should be to optimize your system.
So what will be looked at during the Health Check?
- Clean filters, outdoor coil & fan
- Inspect connections / Calibrate thermostat(s) / Test safety controls
- Test refrigerant pressures, measure temperature drop and amp draw
- Tests system temperatures & pressures simultaneously
- Identify issues based on simultaneous readings
The Health Check incorporates the best of both the preventive maintenance and tune-up services. Using the diagnostic tool, a series of four tests are performed, allowing for simultaneous system readings and automated calculations which all but eliminate the chance of contractor error, resulting in more accurate recommendations. You can also receive a $50 incentive upon completion.”
And there is also a $50 incentive for completing the program including suggested repairs. If no repair is necessary, the customer is not eligible.
“Health Check services that do not result in your system’s efficiency improvement are not eligible for the $50 incentive.”
